Grand Canyon Airlines Captain Wing 3rd Issue

Grand Canyon, AZ 1930-Current

The airline was started in 1927 as Scenic Airways at Grand Canyon, Arizona. The following years saw growth before the stock market crashed in 1929 causing the owners to sell the company and assets to some local Arizona pilots. The company changed its name to Grand Canyon Air Lines in 1930. A short while later the name was simplified and changed it to Grand Canyon Airlines (GCA). The airline was sold in 1967. On March 29, 2007, Scenic Airlines (not to be confused with Scenic Airways) was sold to Grand Canyon Airlines but continued operating under its own name. Scenic Airlines moved its operations to the Boulder City Municipal Airport. Although operations have been merged, both Scenic and Grand Canyon had been operating under two operating certificates. Scenic no longer exists after April 30, 2009 after both airlines began operations under the Grand Canyon Airlines operating certificate.
